Hey loves!
I’m heading back to my hometown, Rochester, NY, for a whole month of exciting events! From work projects to wedding dress shopping and my bestie’s bachelorette weekend, there’s a lot to prepare for. And let me tell you, packing for this trip was a challenge. But fear not, I've got you covered with my ultimate travel must-haves and packing tips to make your journey as smooth as possible.
Carry-On Essentials
Flying makes me anxious, so having my essentials on hand is a must. I prefer to use a backpack as my carry-on; it’s got to be a decent size, but it keeps my hands free for my phone and to walk Teddy when he’s with me. Having a suitcase or duffel bag can be a pain and heavier to deal with.
Here’s what I always pack in my carry-on:
First up is Teddy’s foldable dog bowl and water bowl with covers, to keep my furry friend hydrated and happy. I never travel without headphones to tune out the noise and get into my zen mode. A portable charger is crucial because a dead phone is a no-go. I also bring a travel blanket because I’m always cold on planes, and a cozy blanket is a lifesaver. Lotion and hand sanitizer keep my hands moisturized and germ-free. And, of course, snacks are a must because who doesn’t get hungry during a flight? If I’m hangry, it’s not fun for anyone lol.
Packing Like a Pro
Packing for a month can be overwhelming, but with some strategic planning, it’s totally doable.
Here’s how I tackle it:
I start with packing cubes for my personal items, intimates, socks, and some accessories. They keep everything organized and easy to find. Rolling up my jeans and leggings saves so much space! For this trip, I have two suitcases: one dedicated entirely to shoes. It was like playing Tetris, but I made it work!
When it comes to packing, I organize by category: tops, bottoms, dresses, basics, accessories, and shoes. I pack one category at a time and then outfit them together, helping me visualize what I plan to wear for special events and work attire. I love to visually plan my outfits to make sure I don’t forget anything. For special plans and events, I create the outfits first, then pack them by category. It might seem a bit much, but it ensures I’m always prepared and put together.
Stress-Free Travel Tips
Traveling can be stressful, but being prepared makes all the difference.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Always have a checklist with all the essentials you need to avoid forgetting anything. Make sure you’re comfortable for a flight.
- Leggings or your favorite matching set with sneakers is always a good choice. I will always have my accessories, but I keep the outfit simple and comfy.
- Don’t forget to drink water and stay hydrated, especially during long flights.
