Las Vegas is known for its vibrant dining and nightlife scene, and the Summerlin area is no exception. Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring some fantastic spots near Summerlin and its surrounding areas. Whether you’re a local looking to try something new or a visitor planning your next adventure, these dining experiences have something unique to offer. I’m sharing my personal favorites, along with my honest thoughts, recommendations, and must-try dishes to make your visit unforgettable. Let’s dive in!

General Admission

  • Why I Love It: Perfect for hanging out with friends or watching a sports game in a lively atmosphere. The sports bar vibe is complemented by friendly staff, plenty of TVs, and a comfortable patio setup.

  • Pro Tips: While it’s typically easy to walk in, Sundays during football season can get busy, especially for Buffalo Bills games—a personal favorite as an Upstate New Yorker.

  • What to Order:

    • Tokyo Tots: A must-try appetizer.

    • Burger Sliders: Classic and delicious.

  • Extras: They offer bucket beer and seltzer specials, and breakfast is served on Sundays until 2 PM.

  • Ambiance: TVs are everywhere, including the outdoor patio, which also features booth seating, a fireplace, and space heaters for cooler evenings.

Capo’s Italian Restaurant

  • Why I Love It: A cozy, unique spot with a mobster speakeasy vibe and live music, making it ideal for family dinners or romantic date nights.

  • Reservations: Highly recommended due to the smaller interior space.

  • What to Order:

    • Bruschetta: A flavorful appetizer.

    • Chicken French and Penne alla Vodka: Both dishes were rich, flavorful, and absolutely satisfying—perfect for a comforting Italian meal.

Extras: They offer family-style menu options for those interested in a multi-course dining experience, including dessert.

  • Ambiance: The doorman and host fully embrace the mobster theme, creating a fun and immersive experience.

Kona Grill (Boca Park)

  • Why I Love It: Great for brunch, lunch dates, or after-work happy hours with friends. The outdoor patio with Edison bulbs adds charm, especially in warmer months.

  • Happy Hour: Monday through Friday, 2–6 PM, and nightly from 9 PM to close, with $3, $6, and $9 food and drink options.

  • What to Order:

    • Seared Pot Stickers and Avocado Egg Rolls: Delicious appetizers.

    • Sushi Rolls: The California and Philly rolls were fresh and flavorful.

    • Cilantro Lime Chicken: A favorite for its bold, zesty flavors.

  • Service: Prompt and friendly. Completing their survey at the end of the meal earned us a discount for future visits.

SkinnyFATS

  • Why I Love It: A casual spot with a diverse menu catering to both lighter, healthier options and hearty, indulgent meals. Great for takeout or a relaxed lunch.

  • What to Order:

    • Buffalo Chicken Salad: Packed with flavor and a bit of a spicy kick.

    • Meltdown Burger: Served on sourdough with homemade aioli and caramelized onions. I pair mine with sweet potato fries, but there are a handful of side options you can add to pair with this.

    • Buffalo Cauliflower: A spicy, shareable appetizer with a unique dipping sauce.

  • Ambiance: Laid-back and easygoing, perfect for a quick meal without compromising on taste, portion size and price value.

Bagel Nook

  • Why I Love It: A breakfast and bagel lover’s paradise with countless cream cheese flavors and hearty sandwich options.

  • What to Order:

    • Avocado Blast Sandwich: Packed with eggs, pepper jack cheese, double hash browns, and avocado.

    • Huevos Burrito: A flavorful mix of eggs, sausage, avocado, and salsa.

    • Buffalo Chicken Wrap: A lunch favorite.

  • Extras: Take home their crazy cream cheeses for later.

  • Drawbacks: Limited seating and parking can make for a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it for the flavor-packed experience.

Happy Camper

  • Why I Love It: The ultimate brunch and hangout spot on the strip with a fun, picnic-style atmosphere, perfect for larger groups or special events.

  • What to Order:

    • Hangover Iced Coffee: A decadent brunch cocktail with vanilla vodka, rum cream liqueur, cinnamon, and cold brew coffee.

    • Jalapeño Homies: Cream cheese, bacon, cheddar, and tomato appetizers served with BBQ sauce.

    • Pepperoni & Ricotta Pizza: Topped with basil and hot honey—a must-try.

    • Whipped Feta: Served with honey, pistachios, pita, and crostini.

  • Ambiance: Vibrant and lively, with fire pits, comfy booths, and a disco picnic vibe. Great for bachelorette brunches or girls’ nights out.

    Nevada Beer Works

    • Why I Love It: As an Upstate New Yorker, I’m used to having breweries all around. While Las Vegas doesn’t have as many local brewery options, Nevada Beer Works in the Arts District is a standout.

    • Why It Stands Out: A wide selection of beers along with liquor and wine options—perfect for non-beer drinkers like me.

    • What to Order:

      • Jalapeño Poppers: Served hot and flavorful.

      • Chicken Fingers and Fries: Crispy and satisfying.

      • Cheeseburger: Good, but not particularly unique.

    • Ambiance: Small and cozy inside with limited bar and table seating, but there’s additional outdoor seating available. Multiple TVs inside make it a great spot to catch sports games.

    • Perfect For: A casual, low-key outing with great bar food and drinks.
